Sex play is a popular and research term used to describe sexual interactions in childhood that do not involve adults or borrow directly from child-adult experiences. The term is often used in conjunction with "childhood sexuality" to portray sexual experiences between youth as "age appropriate", innocent and experimental, although despite taboos, this is not necessarily the case (see Research).
