Problems in school are often mentioned as effects of sexual abuse. We have not seen much evidence to support this.
Instead, we have a Cornell University Study which shows such problems for maltreated and neglected children, but not for sexually abused children. Because maltreatment and neglect are often combined with sexual abuse, this may be a sufficient explanation of correlations between sexual abuse and school performance.
