Considering the repression of the society against the pedophiles, this seems to be very strange. Why they don't want to be healed? Why they don't want to get help?
But, in reality, this is quite natural. The sexual orientation is an essential part of the own personality. The pedophile feels that it is simply not possible to change this orientation.
And, assuming it is possible, what will be the result? It seems possible to imagine that you loose your previous sexual interest. But to imagine that you obtain a new interest, that you will really like people or sexual techniques you do not like now, is possible only on a pure mental level, not on the level of feelings. Thus, even the "ideal therapy" (which does not exists) looks only like loosing without a guarantee to get an equivalent.
Especially for an older pedophile, there is the question what happens with his memories? Will he feel disgust remembering them after a therapy? Or will he feel nothing? Even the ideal therapy cannot give in return new memories.
Such a therapy, if succesful, is something much more fundamental than for a black to get white skin - skin is only something outside. But I don't thing that even in the worst days of slavery a majority of black people would have wanted to make such an operation.
But, last not least, there is no such ideal therapy. Nobody can offer the pedophile that a therapy will make him really straight. He will remain pedophile or loose any sexual interest. After this, it is natural that a majority does not want a therapy, and even for the pedophiles which search for therapy it is questionable if this is their real desire or a consequence of the repression.
