The problem is that, except in the Netherlands, anyone trying to do
such research runs into the problem that just being known as a
pedophile leads to risk of being punished by the law. And even doing
research is a risk. Dr. DeCecco at (I think) Stanford U. was doing
some sort of research, but when this was found out, people wrote to
his university's president, who, to his credit, backed DeCecco's
academic freedom.
