About Suicide

The sexual repression may end in some cases with suicide. See an example of suicide of a man accused to have touched boys over the clothing.

Sex-related problems may be an essential part of the reasons for suicide. The sexual desire of children, especially if it is "perverse" in the notion of a sex-repressive society, may lead to guilt feelings which can cause suicide. Gays are around 30% of young people who commit suicide.

Often it is claimed that the children who attemp suicide simply need somebody to talk about their problems. In a sex-repressive society there is nobody to talk with about sex, especially if the problem is an own "perverse" sexual desire.

I have seen a news piece on television where it was claimed that the increase in suicide among those aged 10 to 14 had doubled in one decade. It was admitted [on the show] that the support system for those in that group has come somewhat apart.

Klaus Thomas, a German physician, psychologist and theologian, a man who for many years tried to help people who no longer wanted to live, became convinced that lack of sex education, or the wrong kind of sex education, is one of the main causes of suicide.

"I attemted suicide when I was eleven. I thought this homosexual desire of mine was horrid: it wasn't permitted by the church. I would go to hell because of it. I has a friend I fell in love with. I knew that our play was evil. I was always struggling with thoughts about Sodom and Gomorra."

Brongersma,p.191

In the affair surrounding the prosecution of photographer Guy Straight, one of the boys "killed himself because he had to go to trial" ( Illinois Legislative Commission 1980, p.167).

In another case the police told the man they had arrested, "Your young friend has killed himself: it's probably the best thing he could have done."

O'Carroll 1980, p.66, cited by Brongersma 1990, p. 120

I also know it wasn't always pretty either. But in my opinion the fact that without John I would have been dead because I would have killed myself far outweighs any of the half-truths Steve could say.
