About Mike

Mike is the creator of the PRD, but no longer part of the staff. The PRD is managed now by Ilja.

Here is Mikes self-description:

My pseudonym is Mike. I'm a scientific worker, but in a domain far away from sexual relations. I'm German, so please excuse errors in English. I have a straight family with children.

It is not possible to send me email.

My personal opinion

I think, a reform of the current age-of-consent laws is necessary, simply to protect the children from harm:

  1. It is necessary to protect children from any (also very weak) form of sexual coercion and power misusage. But, to avoid traumatization through the persecution, the position of the child has to be strengthened (a right to refuse to give evidence for the child itself).
  2. It is also necessary to protect children from the obvious negative consequences - infection and pregnancy. This may be done by forbidding unsafe sexual techniques. The penalty has to be in a normal relation with other penalties for doing something dangerous for the child.
  3. In a loveful, fully consentual relation with only safe sex there seems to be no harm for the child. The danger of traumatization through persecution and the other side-effects of persecution (like the resulting evasive behaviour of the pedophile) are to high compared with any possible harm of such relations. That's why it will be the best not to persecute such relations.
  4. On the other hand, the parents must have the possibility to interrupt a relation of their child with adults they don't like.

This opinion is far away from the common, but I think there are enough serious arguments for such a reform that even people which dislike heavily sexual relations between adults and children can agree.

Personally I think, that a loveful, fully consensual, safe relation is usually positive for the child. Remembering my own feelings in this time, I cannot imagine that fully consensual sex will cause by itself any harm simply because one of the participants is too young and the other too old.
