This page is not about recidivism. I will improve the referencing format eventually.

Penn and Teller "bullshit" on Stranger Danger, pt3 (Youtube) ends by citing some risks. I'm looking for the thunderstorm and road traffic citations in particular. Rez (The Administrators - anonym) 17:32, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

"So, out of a population of 53 million people, around 3,000 people might be cautioned or convicted of these offences annually. Since children under sixteen comprise 20.2 per cent of the population of England and Wales (Census 2001), this means that, in approximate terms, the adult population is around 40 million and therefore that, out of this adult population, approximately one out of every 13,000 adults is convicted or cautioned each year for sexual abuse of children aged up to sixteen years, of which one-sixth of these, approximately one out of every 78,000 adults, is convicted of a sexual offence against a child under thirteen. However, if we accept that sexual abuse of children is typically carried out by men rather than women (Itzin 2000), this gives an approximate prevalence of one man in every 40,000 men (thus 0.0025 per cent)."
