Philip Jenkins (born April 3, 1952) is a professor of history at Baylor University in the United States, and co-director for Baylor's Program on Historical Studies of Religion in the Institute for Studies of Religion. He is also the Edwin Erle Sparks Professor of Humanities Emeritus at Pennsylvania State University (PSU). There, he was professor (from 1993), and a distinguished professor (from 1997) of history and religious studies. He was also assistant, associate and then full professor of criminal justice and American studies at PSU from 1980–93.

Among MAPs, AAMs and their allies, Jenkins will most likely be known for his 1998 book Moral Panic: Changing Concepts of the Child Molester in Modern America (Cited in our Chronological Archive), which he dedicated to academic Joel Best. Bruce Rind reviewed the book in the Archives of Sexual Behavior,[1] and Mark McHarry reviewed it for the Journal of Homosexuality alongside David Sonenschein's 1998 two-volume study of the panic, Pedophiles on Parade.[2] For the Journal of Sex Research, psychologist Robert Bauserman reviewed his book on Child Pornography - Beyond Tolerance (2001).[3]
