The Journal of Sex Research is a scholarly journal devoted to the publication of articles relevant to the variety of disciplines involved in the scientific study of sexuality.

The Journal of Sex Research is published quarterly since 1965 by the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality. The Journal has an interdisciplinary character publishing articles from several disciplines including medicine, law, psychology, sociology, biology and history. It publishes empirical reports, theoretical essays, literature reviews, methodological articles, historical articles, clinical reports, teaching papers, book reviews, and letters to the editor.

Over the years, the Journal of Sex Research has published many scholarly articles that carefully considered topics like homosexuality, pedophilia and boylove. Among those include Sandfort's first English article of his pioneering study in man-boy relationships in the Netherlands (Vol. 20, No. 2, 1984), Okami's study about "child perpetrators" (Vol. 29, No. 1, 1992), Rind and Tromovitch first meta analytical study of the effects of child sexual abuse (Vol. 34, No. 3, 1997), Rind's examination of anti-boylove biases in human sexuality textbooks (Vol. 35, No. 4, 1998) and others.
